Ssanghwa-tang (쌍화탕; 雙和湯) or ssanghwa-cha (쌍화차; 雙和茶) is a traditional Korean tea with deep brown colour and a slightly bitter taste. Along with sipjeondaebotang, it is one of the most popular types of medical tea in Korea.
So what does it taste like?
It has a strong herbal medicine taste – earthy with cinnamon-jujube tones and a slightly bitter after taste.
You’ll also taste the sesame seeds and jujubes slices that float at the top of the tea.
We highly recommend drizzling a small amount of natural honey to balance out the overall taste.
If you’re the type that’s always catching a cold when the weather changes – give this medicinal tea a try.
The taste will be strong (and perhaps strange) at first, but you’ll appreciate the warmth that you feel inside of your body.
